Asbestos Management Surveys
A management survey is required for the normal occupancy of a building and for routine and simple maintenance of the building.
Its purpose is to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, the presence, extent and condition of any suspect Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM’s) in the building which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy, including foreseeable maintenance.
The survey will usually involve sampling and analysis at our laboratory to confirm the presence or absence of ACM’s. Representative samples of each suspected ACM are taken and the laboratory will confirm a positive or negative identification of the presence of asbestos.
If the material sampled is found to contain asbestos, other homogenous materials used in the same way in the building can be strongly presumed to contain asbestos.
Comprehensive management survey
The sample results are recorded in the survey report together with appropriate recommendations for managing, containing or removing the asbestos.
Where more extensive maintenance, repair or refurbishment work is involved, there may not be sufficient information in the management survey and a localised refurbishment survey will be required for all work which disturbs the fabric of the building in areas where the management survey has not been intrusive.
Outcome of your survey
The results of your asbestos survey will be used to compile a report which will be used to provide you with a detailed picture of the presence and type of any asbestos in your building together with guidance and advice about the most appropriate way to manage the asbestos
The format and content of our report will ensure you can confirm you are complying with your legal obligations as a Duty Holder as set out by the Health and safety Executive.
All surveys, analysis of results and reporting are carried out to the highest standards and are in full accordance with HSG264 Asbestos: The Survey Guide and HSG248 Asbestos: The analysts’ guide for sampling, analysis and clearance procedures
Our associated laboratory services are also UKAS accredited and we are able to offer a Same Day, Next Day, 48 hr and 72 hr services to suit your requirements. If you have bulk sampling demands we can arrange for
