Dismantling & deconstructing contractors
Dismantling or deconstructing buildings has become more popular in recent years because it involves removing materials according to material type and segregating them for recycling. This has the benefit of minimising the amount of material going to landfill or can save costs by reusing materials where structures and plant are to undergo new construction or reconstruction.
For Andy Bolton Demolition, dismantling techniques often feature at chemical works, with portable or steel frame buildings and pipework, where care in dismantling is required to avoid spillage or leakage of hazardous chemicals.
Dismantling is generally achieved by a careful reversal of the construction process and is applicable to either the removal of mechanical installations or the taking down of structures.
A combination of dismantling and demolition is often beneficial as it permits the recovery of assets, enabling these to be recycled, re-used or sold to offset the client’s costs. The scope of dismantling projects carried out by Andy Bolton Demolition includes but is not limited to:
- Structural Steel Framed Refining/Processing Plant
- Structural Steel Framed Pharmaceutical/Chemical Equipment
- Coal Mining Equipment
- Factory Manufacturing Equipment
- Storage Tanks & Silos
- Structural Steel Framed Pedestrian Suspension and Rail Bridges
Deconstruction, Facade Retention, and Soft Strip
Deconstruction is the selective dismantlement of building components, specifically for re-use, repurposing, recycling, and waste management. Deconstruction focuses on giving the materials within a building a new life once the building as a whole can no longer continue.
We have extensive experience of deconstruction across all sectors and also provide pre contract consultations to our clients where required.
This is a precision operation requiring temporary propping and close monitoring of the work. Our engineers are qualified to assess and carry out this work in a safe and timely manner.
Soft Strip & De Rating
Our soft strip teams are used to working in live and sensitive environments. An initial assessment is made to control noise, dust and minimise disruption during the works. We plan the work carefully and put control measures in place including screening, water on tools and ensuring an appropriate level of ventilation is maintained.
Dismantling & deconstructing specialists
Our experience of carrying out work in close proximity within working environments allows them to tailor their working methods to minimise any effects on the day to day operation of the client’s facilities.
Their skilled and trained workforce adopt typical techniques such as unbolting and cold cutting using the company’s full range of specialist equipment.
All plant and equipment is selected according to the work at hand and can be pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, diesel or gas powered. Flameproof plant and equipment is also available for work in potentially flammable environments.
Restricted access is also often a problem and as can be seen from the photograph, the Brokk 180 was just the tool to demolish this particular bridge that had been “covered” by the new replacement structure
